IDT: An Intelligent Diagnostic Tool

چکیده

IDT is an intelligent hardware diagnostic tool that has been successfully used to identify faults in PDP 11103 computers. It selects and executes tests, and interprets the results. IDT is able to modify its test selection strategy on the basis of results of previous tests as well as opinions offered to it by the user. Symbolic formulas are used to represent the relationship between the test results and the broken equipment. If we assume that there is only one broken component, then set operations can be shown to be sufficiently general for combining the results of multiple tests.

Special issue on intelligent technologies for planning and decision making under uncertainty

One of the main challenges for intelligent decision technologies is to support decision making processes in which uncertainties about data, parameters or preferences are a major concern. The Operational Research and Computer Science communities have developed a large number of quite diversemodels and software tools with this purpose in mind. With the aim of gathering researchers presenting the ...

An Improved Data Reduction Tool in Support of the Real-Time Assimilation of NASA Satellite Data Streams

Today’s research and operational forecast models and data assimilation systems have difficulty ingesting and utilizing large volumes of satellite data, in part due to prohibitively large computational costs, time constraints and bandwidth issues. To address this problem, NASA recently funded a project aimed at refining, testing and customizing an existing automated Intelligent Data Thinning (ID...

Knowledge-based interaction in software development

Modern software development is highly knowledge intensive; it requires that software developers create and share new knowledge during their daily work. However, current software development environments are “syntactic”, i.e. they do not facilitate understanding the semantics of software artefacts and hence cannot fully support the knowledge-driven activities of developers. In this paper we pres...
